Right Mouse Click Opens Another Firefox Tab, Postscript

Re-installation of Firefox 3.6.13 to the Notebook, without Xmarks went without a hitch. No more Right-Click on URLs opening a New Tab! Apparently, the Xmarks add-on is installed but DISABLED in Firefox Portable. Will not try to reinstall Xmarks add-on in this Notebook then disable it. Period.

Readers might be curious whether some user preferences were deliberately changed from the Firefox default settings that made this Right-Click on URL opening New Tab possible. Using Firefox’s about:support, here’s a list of modified preferences:

The only modified setting connected to Right-Click Menu, or the context menu for this matter, is dom.event.contextmenu.enabled. According to MozillaZine Knowledge Base:

Determines whether the oncontextmenu event can be caught by non-chrome JavaScript (e.g., in an anti-right-click script).
True (default): the opposite of below.
False: Webpages will not be able to affect the context menu event, thus allowing to access the context menu all the time.
Note: In Firefox, this can be changed via "Tools -> Options -> Content (Web Features in Firefox 1.0.x) -> Advanced -> Allow scripts to: Disable or replace context menus" and, in Mozilla Suite, via "Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Scripts -> Plug-ins -> Allow scripts to: Disable or replace context menus."

Thus, if the dom.event.contextmenu.enabled setting is false, from the default: true; therefore, webpages will not be able to affect the context menu event.

The setting specifically mentions non-chrome Javascript, which meant that Firefox ALLOWs, by default, chrome unsigned Javascripts, such as those included in Xmarks add-on?

To clarify, the Right-Click phenomenon is only present when Firefox is used. Other browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer v.8.0.6001.18702 and Google Chrome v.8.0.552.237, [installed to test this blog on other browsers aside from Firefox] both do not exhibit this phenomenon. Thus, the systemic change of the Right-Click context menu is discounted.

On or about 11:45H [GMT+8] Firefox 3.6.14 was released. Downloaded and installed the update, i.e., with Xmarks still DISABLED! Or maybe, un-install Xmarks!
