My Travian experience in Server 10 [com10] which featured Travian version 3.6 was not unique compared to what I have previously experienced in the Philippine Speed Server. Aside from the fact that most players in the international Travian servers are more cordial and helpful compared to those playing in the Philippine Travian servers, I am more sure this time that, generally speaking, the basic fact of the strong becoming stronger by devouring the weak exists on any Travian server. This is also true-to-life: the weak is feeder to the strong!
When I signed up for an account in Server10, com10, on 05 November 2009, I was enticed with the come-on of trying out what was the hype with Travian version 3.6 and hoped that I could improve my Travian-playing strategy. Aside from the fact that I had too much time in my hands because of my almost a month-long suspension, with only a few scheduled duty after my suspension, and the steel plant I was employed was experiencing what I was harping about for years, which some particular others believed was only a part of «The Grey Chronicles»’ malicious misinformation, I founded a village, initially named Oragon10 on 05 November 2009.
Subsequently I lost that village, Oragon10, renamed 0.Good Friday Curse, on 25 August 2010, i.e., after more than ten months of existence. It was renamed 0.Good Friday Curse because Oragon10 was subsequently catapulted while the Catholic-majority Philippines was observing the most sacred and holiest of all Catholic holidays, Good Friday! As expected in a server beyond local borders, it is Friday in the Philippines, but on the other side of the world it was Thursday! Hey, I guess the other side did not observe Holy Thursday, either! Eventually, what had happened during that day became a regular feature in ALL my Travian profiles, to quote:
In Travian, nothing is permanent;
everything can be catapulted!
Even on Good Friday!
– Rey Adel
After trying hard to increase the resource production the previous week, my account managed to create three [3] settlers and settled Oragon20 on 30 January 2010. The second Village was leveled-up to include a level-5 Main Building, level-1 Warehouse and Granary, a level-1 City Walls, and a level-3 Cranny before the first day was over. The next day, the Cranny was raised to level-3 while the resource fields were all the way to level 2. My son was feverish that night and I had to log-off to tend to his needs, as my wife was too far away. The following day, ten waves of catapult attacks came in succession from a ten-village neighbor, who obviously was a Travian Gold/Plus player, located about thirty-minute away from my Capital. As my Alliance-mates were three hours away, any help to save my second Village would be too late, and thus lost it without a substantial defense.
No crying over spilt milk, but I tried some diplomacy just in case. I promised to situate my next "second" village too far away from any of his villages or my capital, which was surrounded by members of the dominant Alliance in that quadrant. He answered back similar to what I have known long before: the weak is feeder to the strong! Aha! the prime example of Have Travian Gold, Will Attack! scenario! As a consolation, I just was thankful that my son’s fever was over. Ever since I started playing Travian, everything remotely concerning my son, his needs takes precedence.
As it came to pass, my Server 10 [com10] account managed to create the next five [5] villages too far away from my Capital, at least ten [10] hours away to the southern part of the server. The seven [7] north-western villages were another story, another post.
When our Alliance chose to join the dominant northern alliance, North, I immediately made known the fact to the alliance leaders that it was maybe only a few days away before my Capital, 0.Good Friday Curse, would be razed to the ground. A few days after I changed Alliance from WK99! to +North+, I received an In-Game Message [IGM] from my Capital’s constant aggressor basically stating that I have chosen the wrong alliance. There was a brief moment when WK99! and the southern Alliance surrounding my Capital became Confederates. During that time, I managed to upgrade everything in the Capital to level-20, including the Trade Office, whereby the latter afforded me to ferry most of the Capital’s production to my other villages.
