On the bright side, my Travian account in Server 10, where the Travian 3.6 version is being tested, is doing as expected. I already got Quest reward of an additional 15 Travian Gold after completing all resources to level 2. Since the sign-up date to the present, my Village there have only been attacked four times. Each of which ended with more losses to the attacker than mine. The most they got from my Village was a token of loot: crops.
Unfortunately, I noticed that with two attackers coming from different non-aligned accounts, landing on my village exactly the same time—hour-minute-second—they should have annihilated themselves first, waging war with each other, then the winner of that battle should be the one to lord over my Village’s troops. Instead, both troops waged war only against my village. Huh? Is it not illogical that as soon as they simultaneously arrived in my Village, they developed a instant, like long-lost brothers in arms, liking for each other and thus connived to just attack my village, and not against each other? Wonderful! Hypothetically then, if China and Russia attacked say Kuril Islands simultaneously, would they not fight each other first instead of just aiming their guns on the Kuril defenders? What dumb luck for the defenders!
Being constrained with my self-imposed rule of not upgrading the three other resources higher than level 3 until I get a level 10 Cranny, which I only completed just recently, I upgraded the crop fields and just trade them for resources needed to build the other more important military buildings. Secrecy is key here, thus I would not divulge which buildings are being built for now. Built three more Crannies thereafter and continued upgrading them. As soon as the other Crannies reaches the maximum allotted level of 10, my next building should be a Palace. With the Marketplace capable of trading more resources, the Palace was soon up in my Village in no time.
The fruits of my revised strategy shown the dismal effectiveness (casualty) and efficiency (loot) of my attackers, as expected in any Travian Server, all of them undisciplined, war-maniac, seemingly without a strategy, yet simple-minded Teutons. Yes, I am a vindictive type of player: attack now, and anyone who attacked my Village when it was month old would dearly pay for whatever damaged it had done then. I kid you not … and as merciless as you might have been when my Village was starting, these attackers might soon see what my Roman Village is capable of doing to them. Some only looted the excess, yet meager, crops. At times, when some of my Roman troops were left to fend of the attacks, some of the aggressors were usually pinned down and no loot were brought home.
Incidentally, I was amazed by some Roman players, whereby they attacked my Village with only two (2) of their Legionnaires. Most probably, these two (2) Legionnaires were the ones required by the Quest Master. Thus, even though I dodge the attack, the attacker troops all died. Oh, the City Wall was up, by the way. Also, beware of trading in the Marketplace, some of those you trade with are also known to be potential attackers. They prey on Villages with excess resources that once these are traded on the Marketplace, it is a clear signal for these vultures to take back what they traded. What I found hard to understand is one particular aggressor which attacked by Village twice a day, minutes apart, say one at 00:33H then the next at 00:47H; the following day: one at 01:01H then followed with an attack 01:16H. Probably, a trigger-happy player or an ignoramus who does not know that if you attack a village in succession, using the same number troops, you only get the resources produced during the past few minutes. With a cranny at level 10, and all resources only at level 2, the efficiency of such attack is too meager. Truly, different players, different strategy.
The population of my Village is even less than 100. Thus, on the first look, if they bothered to look at all, many aggressors might have been surprised by the fact that although the population is small, the Village hosted a formidable army. And one colleague told me that I should not be upgrading buildings but rather beef-up the troops. If one does not build military installations, how could one get stronger, faster and much bigger troops? One cannot build these troops without upgrading the Academy, or building new ones: Armory, Blacksmith, Stable, or Workshop.
Why waste Travian Gold when your Village is still under the beginner’s protection? The Roman troops are late-bloomers. Romans are only effective in the middle of the game, especially when they have accumulated troops that could annihilate any Teutonic army, or release those captured in the Gallic traps. Although it has been said that Romans are not really the first of firsts, or maybe featured in the top ten players, Romans are still great to play.
Yet, there were times when my Real Life role is REALLY MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE GAME. Of course, others might disagree, the highest one got was an hour production of the resources when I was off line for a time because I have to attend to my son’s needs. He is three years old, and with my wife toiling in the desert, I am all he’s got. For me, my life DOES NOT revolve around only with Travian … and I also maintain a semblance of regularity of posts in this blog, and I am already behind schedule.

Today there are many MMOG (massively multiplayer online game) that revolve around strategy and tactic theme but it’s very hard to find MMOG or simulation that deal whit the business world. Recently I found a upcoming FREE game that challenge you to take The CEO position of your own company by building your company from scrap to a global corporation while competing whit other players on limited resources such as: market share, costumers, human resources .
