I Needed That Yesterday!

Indians are always in a hurry. When they need something, they need it immediately.

One department head claimed that “When I said I need it now, I meant I need it yesterday!”

An expat manager was nudging me to provide a list of critical spares, which I already gave him yesterday. He said exactly the same thing: “When I said I need it now, I meant I need it yesterday!” I sincerely believe that this became a mantra for them!

“I gave that list to you yesterday, and you are still asking me for it today!”

“I don’t have it with me, could you give me another copy?”

“No!” I declined. “You asked me for that list two months ago, a month ago, a week ago, and yesterday . . . and every time I furnished you the same list because you haven’t done your job of attending to the follow-up of the procurement of those critical spares.”

“But you have not updated it for a while!”

“Don’t you think its rather USELESS keeping that list updated when NO NEW CRITICAL SPARE was purchased for two months now? Until a new spare is procured, the SAME LIST will contain the SAME THINGS!”

“Don’t be like that! I am doing my job . . . you should do yours!

“If you did your job, you should not be asking me that list for the nth time!”
